Meet Your New President-Elect -

 Jaelle De La Fuente!

My name is Jaelle de la Fuente and I am currently the HIM/Credentialing Technician at Select Specialty Hospital- Orlando South.  After graduating from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Informatics and Information Management, I began my career at the University of Central Florida (UCF). 


While at UCF, I worked for Student Health Services in the Health Information and Compliance Department as the lead Medical Records Specialist.  After a few years, I decided to make the move from an outpatient setting to inpatient.  I now work for Select Specialty Hospital which is a Critical Illness Recovery Hospital.  Currently at Select, Health Information Management and Credentialing are combined into one department, which has given me the opportunity to work outside the traditional role of HIM. 


I have 4 plus years of working experience in Health Information Management and 2 years of experience in Credentialing.  I have earned and maintained my Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) credential.  I am currently the technology chair for my local Health Information chapter, Central Florida Health Information Management Association (CFHIMA). As the technology chair, I am in charge of maintaining the social media accounts which includes posting and any administration duties. 

My biggest accomplishments to date are earning my RHIA and recently earning employee of the month.  One of my current goals is to advance into a management position.  One of the ways I am working towards achieving my goal is to become more involved in CFHIMA. I am looking forward to strengthening my leadership skills through this new role.



Officers of the Board:

  • President 

    • Provides effective leadership to the Officers and Committee Chairpersons. Directs the activities of the Officers, Committees, and projects serving as an unofficial member of all committees.​

  • President-Elect (3-year commitment to include office of President and Past-President)

    • Prepares for presidency by getting to know the membership and observing operational activities of the association.​

  • Past-President

    • Serves in a parliamentarian role advising on proceedings of the association and ensuring Bylaws and Standing Rules are adhered to.​

  • Treasurer (2-year commitment)  

    • Supports the association by managing the financial budget and tracking membership due payments.​

  • Secretary (2-year commitment)

    • Provides responsibility of complete and accurate meeting minute taking for both board and general membership meetings. ​

Committee Chairpersons:

  • Bylaws (1-year commitment)

    • Maintains most current CFHIMA Bylaws. Retains record of all proposed amendments and is responsible for communicating proposed changes to the membership prior to approval and implementation.​

  • Program (1-year commitment)

    • Plans and directs all aspects of ​the CFHIMA program to include speaker, meeting location, refreshments, events, and dinners. Responsible for promotion of participation in local HIM community activities. 

  • Scholarship (1-year commitment)

    • Responsible for organizing all activities to assist in furthering the education of Central Florida HIM students who achieve high academic excellence or show financial necessity by offering monies funded by scholarships.​

  • Technology (1-year commitment)

    • Facilitates membership education about HIM topics through the CFHIMA CoP​ and about technology in the HIM profession.
